A blog post for m'ladies! Guys, come back in a few days for the next post (unless you are looking for some vintage lingerie for your woman, then go directly here to my etsy shop!).
I found an absolutely darling vintage nightgown at an estate sale. It is oh so Betty Draper answering the door to the milkman...woo-woo!
Let's be real here girlfriends, the lingerie at Vickies Secret is sexy and fabulous but the majority of us need a little fluff and pouf to hide those minor imperfections! Our hubbies don't care about those little lumps and bumps, but lets face it, in order for us to not feel ridiculous, we need a little structure or mystery to our bedroom garments.
This beautiful blue nightie comes with a robe to layer on top of the gown. It is long enough to remain lady-like while prancing around the house or sipping a cup of tea. It is modest enough that you won't feel silly wearing it 'just because'.
And, it's just sheer enough without the robe that your man will like it in the boudoir!
The husband came with me to this estate sale. When I was paying for this piece, the older woman who was collecting the money looked at my hubby and whispered "have fun" while a long line of people looked on behind us!
I will not be keeping this pretty find, it is in the etsy shop and would be perfect for a bride or as a gift for yourself.

Old Hollywood
There's something about vintage film items, both photography and cinema. It brings me back to a more simple time. I remember the cool flash cube Kodak cameras and watching educational movies in school on a film projector. I loved it when the reel ran out and the film flapped wildly against the projector!
A recent estate sale I attended was that of an avid photographer and cinematographer. I found a little collection to bring home for the etsy shop.
A must have for any film lover, a film reel in its original box.
The 'can' to store your reel.
And, the cutest little slide viewer EVER! An Argus previewer that *still* lights up in its original box. Someone could totally place one of their fave slides in this when company is coming and place it on an end table for show. What a conversation piece it would be. Or maybe some sort of small instillation with several in a grouping on a wall. Wouldn't that look cool all lit up with your fave slides in them?!
Let's talk DIY decor y'all. What would you do with these film items if you had them...discuss!

Vintage Vera Veggies
Yesterday morning I thought to myself as I was driving down a street lined with blooming trees how good life really is. I didn't have to rush, I had my coffee, the weather was nice, and I was on my way to an estate sale. For us thrifters, does it get any better than this!?
The sale was run by my favorite estate company and so I knew I was in for fair pricing and good organization. I arrived to find a large selection of glassware, jewelry, along with a the usual furniture, clothing, and general vintage goodness...including Vera.
When us retrophiles hear the name Vera, we usually think of beautiful scarves with the cute little ladybug logo. While looking through the needle-point and linen items, I came across this:
They had the Vera name and logo on them but these were not scarves, they were vintage linen placemats!
The edging is a tangerine color (Pantone color of the year) and each features a cute vegetable print. There are eight total, 2 of each pattern.
To me, these are unique since I have never seen the Vera name attached to anything but scarves. I scooped them up and will put them in the etsy shop here.
Have you ever come across an unexpected item from a brand you know? Share below or over on the Facebook page.

BOLO Score!
Remember that BOLO list that I talked about just yesterday? Well, I can cross one item off of that list. I have been searching for a long yellow cardigan for awhile now with no luck. On a Goodwill run yesterday I found it! Kind of...
It isn't a *long* cardi, but more of of a medium length. In my last post I talked about being open minded at the thrifts. Even though this pretty cardigan wasn't long, I told myself just to try it on, and I am glad I did! It is an Ann Taylor Loft garment, $3.59.
On the same trip I found this:
An Apt. 9 lined lace tunic top with wide sash, $3.59. I am normally do not wear lace, however, Lindsey over at Thrift and Shout blog did a post on how lace is a hot new trend and photographed herself in a beautiful lace top. When I saw this shirt on the rack, I thought of her post and tried it on. It looked great! Especially when paired with the yellow cardigan. Thanks for the inspiration Lindsey! (She has a great thrifted fashion blog that you should definitely check out)
On the way home from the GW, I saw a fluorescent orange sign from afar and knew it could only be one thing...a yard sale! I hung a quick right then a left and one creative parking job later, I had arrived. The yard sale was that of an elderly woman who had passed and they were cleaning out the house. I try to be especially respectful and gentle with my haggling in these types of situations where a death is involved. This woman must have loved to read. There were hundreds of books, mostly steamy romance novels, which gave me a chuckle.
I ended up with a blue quilted leather vintage purse for $1, a vintage metallic silver evening bag, and a bag full of Barbie collectible ornaments from Hallmark. The metallic silver evening bag is here in the Etsy shop and the Barbie ornaments will soon be in the ebay store (I will do another post on these).

Gee-Vahn-Chee...and more Pyrex, of the Cinderella nature!
There was only 1 yard sale posted this last week on Cragslist, wah-wah. Winter set in today with a lovely 4" snow, so it will definitely be slim pickings from now through the rest of the Winter season.
At the one and only yard sale, I picked up this fun vintage cheerleading sweater with applique in a bright orange color. It reminds me of those SNL skits for the 'Perfect Cheer'. Here's the shirt and a perfect cheer to go along with it...

I had read a recent article that hosiery was coming back. Ughh, what torture!! I mean tights are one thing, but hosiery that itches, runs, snags, and makes your shoes not want to stay on, what-evs! But I guess Kate Middleton has been spotted in them, so that explains it. Now, when I was at said single yard sale, I spotted 3 packs of never worn and in original packaging Givenchy hose in the colors of pink, purple, and bright red.

I remembered the hosiery article, and they were vintage, and they were Givenchy, and they were 50 cents, and they were unique colors, you get the point. Listed them on the 'bay and sold the first pair within 8 hours for $14.99. Two are still available. I currently have two people 'watching' a pair. Not a bad, quick, little flip huh?!
Since the yard sales are donesies, I will be heavily searching the Goodwill's to satiate my thrifting desires. I had a long and expensive Wednesday dealing with a car repair, but they gave me a loaner, so I figured I would use their gas to drive around town and hit the GW's! Out of that little trip came these...
Via Spiga patent heels
Brighton heeled sandals
Small Pyrex Cinderella Homestead pattern bowl, brown on tan, near mint!
Gay Head Martha's Vineyard vintage collectors measuring cup. Side note, if you Google Gay Head to do some research on a newly acquired find, you will get some interesting hits!
Wilton Barbie Cake Pan
Starbucks Mug for Travel
Dana Buchman blouse in a beautiful shade of blue
Hallmark Keepsake Ornament with Santa and Reindeer on a motorcycle 1997, lights up too!
As you might be able to tell (or not) I am working on my photography skills and trying to use my DIY light box I posted about last time. Still need better lighting, but the photo editor helps slightly.
Oh, and I took the plunge after reading a post from Jessica of We Sell On Ebay about the Pros and Cons of an ebay store. I had been thinking of opening one and was hesitant that I would be locked in to some agreement, or lose my listings or feedback if I decided to stop the store. Jessica was kind enough to answer my questions and I thought there was little drawback ($15.99) to trying a store for a month, so I took the plunge! Now VintageDreamsNE is not only an Etsy store but also and Ebay store. Thanks to my friends in the blogosphere and my readers, friends, and family for being so supportive of my new ventures!
Want a fun, new blog to follow? Canine Thespian! She too loves Pyrex and was just featured on the Pyrex Collective! She also makes crocheted animals which are adorable. I couldn't help but identify with her Pyrex love, her new blog, and I enjoyed her writing style. So, show some blog love, and give her a visit and a follow!!

Pyrex show and tell
Ok, so I am fairly new to this whole thrifting game, but found out very quickly that there is something about Pyrex that vintage collectors go nuts over. And, I must admit, I am now loving the old school pyrex. I mean the colors and the translucence are beautiful! And the designs range from atomic to farmhouse chic.
Show and tell piece numero uno. I recently sold this lovely in my Etsy shop, she was posted for less than a day and a Pyrex lover scooped her up. Isn't she pretty? In the biz, she is referred to as Pink Pyrex Daisy Cinderella Oval Divided Serving Dish with Lid.
The next is this cup and saucer set. It is a Pyrex/Corelle combo with a pattern named Butterfly Gold. My grandparents had the Butterfly Gold pattern, so when I saw this it reminded me of seeing them drink their morning Sanka (ack!) from them back in the day.
My final Pyrex piece for show and tell is this large Pyrex mixing bowl in yellow. I acquired it from the estate of a man who used it to make his candy recipes for his candy shop way back when (I am guessing the 1950s). It's big, yellow, and heavy...pefrect for makin a big batch o'cookies!
Now, it is your turn to show and tell any fabulous Pyrex you may have, or wish to have, or memories of your grandmas Pyrex collection :)
See more vintage Pyrex/Corelle/Corning in my Etsy shop Vintage Dreams, enjoy!
