My preggo sickness took a few hours off the other day, so, of course, I headed to the good ole G-dub. Man I missed that place. The parking lot was practically full and people were finding bargains right and left for back-to-school. I found the maternity section, picked out a couple of items that looked like they had a cuteness factor to them, and headed to the dressing room.
First, I tried on a shirt. Um, it was ok, but it had this low scoop-neck thing going on. I moved on to the next shirt, same ta-ta issue, and the next too. Then I tried on a scrub top for my part time gig. Now, normally scrub tops are pretty modest, but this one had a low v-neck thing going on. Ladies, let's be real here...in a short time my ta-ta's will be wanting to bust out like Christina Hendrick's from Mad Men, so a low scoop neck seems a bit impractical. What the heck y'all???
Ladies, I ask: What is up with the scoop neck, preggo shirt, ta-ta thang!?
I gave up on the shirts and moved to the jeans. They had a nice wash to them, a good length, and they were skinny leg jeans. Mind you, I was trying on my usual size. I pulled them on and turned around to check out my tushie in the mirror and was horrified. The badonkadonk of this pair of jeans was sagging down to the back of my knees! Ack! I figured it was a fluke, so I tried the next pair and they had the same ass-dragging look.
Ladies, I ask: Is this what maternity jeans are supposed to be like? Will my ass swell to twice the size of a Kardashian?
Please share your favorite maternity brands so that I can add them to my BOLO (be on the look out) list! Post your suggestions below or over on the Facebook page.

The gap believe it or not! I just wore my regular shirts and sweaters.
ReplyDeleteRachael you have to go to Big Wheels to Butterflies maternity store in Papillon- it's a consignment shop. They are extremely picky about what they take and they sell everything for amazingly low prices!! I love Gap maternity clothes but would of course never buy them full price. I got several pairs of Gap jeans there for less than $5 a piece!!
ReplyDeleteLoving the Blog and hope the pregnancy is getting better! Let me know if you achieve the Kardashian butt...something for me to look forward to when I'm finally pregnant!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sarah...Big Wheels & Butterflies for sure!! That is where I got all my prego stuff. And now that is where I get a lot of Aiden's cloths as well. BTW don't worry yer badonkadonk will be fine. Miss ya girl! If you ever need someone to go with ya hit me up! I love that place. Rae Zalovich
ReplyDeleteWish I could help, but it's been more than 34 years since I was pregnant...:) Back then, I just put maternity panels in my own jeans and pants, which gave me a good excuse to buy all new clothes after my daughter was born.
ReplyDeleteIf you ever find 7 for all Mankind or Citizens of Humanity maternity jeans, buy them. They are extremely well made and comfortable and they cost over $100 new so you can re-sell them after your pregnancy too! And no saggy bottom! Gap is also great but I actually wore a size smaller than my usual size with them so they were not so baggy!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!
I'm only 5 foot tall and so when I am pregnant the baby has no place to go but out. I ended up going up 4! cup sizes, so actually the scoop neck shirts fit. I would also wear a tank top underneath if needed. I think it's hard to tell what size you need until you get there. I'm currently 7 weeks preggo and have purchased some things at thrift stores, for the cheap price I figure if they don't fit when I need them I'll just sell them. I don't have good look with gap, 7fmk, or other brands like that because I kind of have a kardashian rear end even when I am skinny, so I wear a lot of dresses and target pants or leggings. I found some great clearance dresses a few weeks ago on the old navy website. They will be comfy, dressy enough for work and I can layer when it gets colder. Good luck. I haven't been thrifting in two weeks, morning sickness is an all day thing for me.:)
ReplyDeleteYou just need to find a different style but YES your ass will swell! ahahaha
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny. I have older kids and maternity wear was hideous in the late 90's. "Tent tops" and "Mom jeans-ala-prego". I have heard that GAP maternity is good though, if you see them!
