Pyrex Fridgie Haul

So, I have this thing for Pyrex, especially Pyrex refrigerator dishes a.k.a. fridgies. Fridgies come in a 1.5 cup size, a 1.5 pint size, and a larger casserole type size and have a textured glass lid. I myself, just love the little 1.5 cup size.

In my experience, fridgies are hard to come by. I read about them all of the time on the Pyrex Collective and all of these wonderful little fridgie thrift hauls that people miraculously come across. And, they find them with lids...impossible!

Must have been my turn the other day, cause here's what I found...

These little Pyrex's were all under a bunch of random housewares that were corralled into a Goodwill cart o' death (those metal carts they wheel stuff out of the back with). I spotted the butterfly gold and pounced on said cart. As quickly and carefully as I could I gathered up each one and gently placed them into my cart cushioned by a few pieces of clothing. I ended up with:

1 medium Butterfly Gold w/lid
2 small Butterfly Gold w/lids
1 medium Butterprint w/lid
1 small Butterprint w/lid (not pictured, already sold)

What a nice little fridgie haul! And they *all* had lids. The dishes themselves are in excellent condition with few if any utensil scrapes. The lids are all in functioning condition with only some bumpy nicks.

If you love fridgies and are looking to add to or start your collection, I have the above refrigerator dishes listed at a Buy It Now price with free shipping at my ebay store.

My Pyrex fridgie dish dreams haven't quite come try yet. I am still on the hunt to complete my primary color set...This is what I have so far....

Yep, only 1 primary red dish! It holds the sugar for my morning coffee. I know I could just go buy a full set on the 'bay, but for me, the hunt is one of my favorite parts!

Where have you sourced your Pyrex refrigerator dishes from?

Linking up with Homemaker On A Dime, and Apron Thrift Girl...

  1. I've got the largest primary colors nesting bowl in yellow - and want to complete the set, but like you, I want to do it through 'finds' instead of ebay or etsy. I have the rest of the nesting bowls in an early 80's pattern (mushrooms, they are ugly) and they are so useful. I would love to find some fridgies!

  3. I love it when a new cart filled with goodies is wheeled out from the back room. I have found some of my best items on that cart. I wish I could wait all day for those carts. Your fridges are wonderful, maybe some day I will be lucky and find some.♥

    2. I haven't found a fridgie in quite a long time - I think it's about time!! I'm liking the Butterfly Gold more all the time - it's a cute cheery pattern.... I know what you mean about the cart - I scooped a Golden Tulip casserole off the cart one day - I felt pretty proud of myself!!

    3. At our goodwill you are not allowed to touch anything on the "cart o' death" until it is placed on the shelf. So you have to be sure to just stay in the vicinity to not miss anything good.

  4. Such an excellent, jealousy-inducing find! I have never found a fridgie. I'm not sure if they just weren't popular in Australia, or if I just haven't been lucky yet.
PS: I am loving this new reply feature!

  7. I've seen them in antique stores, but the price is usually too high. I have a small red one that I love. Can't remember where I found it, but the price was right!

    1. yes, betsy antique store prices tend to be rather high on pyrex. i try to find mine at goodwill or yard sales.
i live in the midwest, so yard sale season is on pause right now, but i can't wait for it to return so i can try to build up my collection!

  10. Nice job! Fridgies are always one of the hardest pieces for me to find in the wild. I would definitely have rescued those from the cart of death, too.

  15. I just bought my first "fridgies" this weekend at an estate sale. One had a lib the other... once upon a time I bought a lone lid for .50 cents just because I knew they would be hard to come by. A set! Love your examples.

  18. I am a pyrexaholic. I have 2 sets of the primary nesting bowls minus one of the 3rd largest because it fell off the dish rack. I'm pretty sure I cried that day. I have a full set of the mushrooms nesters and I would say 4 sets of the refrigerators of various but mostly primary colors plus various other dishes. But the best I ever found...the white with pink gooseberry refrigerator set with all the lids. It was on the shelf at goodwill looking like it had never been used as it had no scratches, chips or any blemish and it was $3. My daughter spied it a couple of weekends ago and begged to have it left to her in my will. I have thought about it and I am going to send it down to her. Much as I love it I know she will too and she'll use them because she grew up using them. I dislike plastic for most stuff and these little guys make leftovers a breeze with already having a lid to stop splatters and they never melt and look horrible.
